SECOND LEVEL AVAILABLE UNDER .JO

 The second level domain names available under .jo include:

 .com – for commercial organizations.

.org –  for non-commercial organizations

.net –for networks and Internet Service Providers with a valid license.

.edu –  for educational institutions.

.gov –for government organizations.

.mil  -for military organizations .  

.myname.jo is open to organizations who opt to register directly under .jo.

1. TERMS and CONDITIONS

1.1 The TLD .jo is open for companies/organizations who are registered in Jordan.

1.2 The owner of the domain name/ or his representative must be registered in Jordan.

 1.3 Domain Names may be registered for active usage or for inactive usage (reservation for future use)

 1.4 NITC will register the names on the basis “first come first serve”. All requests will be processed on an equal basis.

1.5 Any organization outside Jordan may register domain names through a residing agent provided he has a licensed active office and is authorized to represent the applying organization in Jordan. In this case, the owner of the domain name is the company/organization outside Jordan and not the representative office.

1.6 The domain name must reflect the whole name of the company/ organization or part of it, or a trade mark owned by the company.

1.7 A third party can register the domain name on behalf of the company/ organization if authorized to do so by the owner.

1.8 NIC may require evidence to the authority of the agent.

1.9 Submitted domain names should not interfere with the rights of a third party.

1.10 Any company registering under .jo is required to provide a copy of their legal documents (eg, commercial registration, license, trademark registration, etc...). Jordanian Trademarks

1.11 Domain names under .gov must be presented with an official letter from the ministry/public department.

1.12 The administrative contact should be residing in Jordan.

 1.13 The technical contact can be outside Jordan.

1.14 The domain name being registered should not be used for any unlawful purpose or activities not permitted by the Jordanian law.

1.15 The electronic copy of the application is used for speeding up the process of verification of the domain name. Registration of the name is not finalized without the official papers and fees.

1.16 Domain names must not be registered to be resold again.

1.17 Registered active domain names must have an operational primary and secondary Domain Name System (DNS) server. Both need permanent IP connectivity to the Internet for queries and zone transfers to be easily checked for operational status and database accuracy at any time.

2.DELETION

2.1 To delete an active or inactive registration, a written request by the owner should be sent to NITC.  

2.2 NITC has the right to delete a domain name with insufficient payment for registration/reservation without notifying the registrant. The deleted domain name will become available for reuse by other applicants.

 

 

2.3 Failure to pay annual renewal fees in January and after elapse of an ’on hold’ period of 90 days, will result in deletion of the entry without further notice. 

 

3. CONFLICTS

 3.1 For disputes over a domain name between two or more organizations, NITC exempts itself from all responsibility for the verification of rights to a name. NITC cannot act as arbiter of disputes arising out of this kind of conflict and it is not NITC’s responsibility to check availability of names in resources that are not Jordanian. In case of a conflict will suspend the domain name until further official notification of settlement is recieved.

 3.2 NITC will abide by all court orders without being named as party to a lawsuit.

3.3 NITC will not be liable for any interruption of business, or any indirect damages of any kind (including losses of profits) or otherwise.

3.4 If legal action is taken regarding the use of a name, NITC reserves the right to revoke, suspend or delete the name as it sees necessary.

 4. REJECTION

 NITC will notify registrants of a domain name, of acceptance, rejection or modification, by fax or telephone. NITC will reject domain name applications, other than format:

4.1 If entries in the application form are incomplete.

4.2 If domain names are identical with an already registered domain name, locally or globally or obvious name conflicts with another name, trade name, trade mark, service mark, etc.

4.3 If domain names do not comply with public ethics.

4.4 If domain names are registered in an attempt to resell them again.

4.5 If personal names are not supported by legal documents (Commercial registration documents).

4.6 If domain names infringe on the legal right of a third party.

4.7 If the domain name is misleading and is confusing for users of the internet.

4.8 If primary and/or secondary DNS server(s) do not respond properly.

5. TRANSFER

5.1Transfer of a domain name to another holder should be confirmed by the original holder.

5.2 The new holder should submit a new application. The new registration by the new holder will require transfer fees.

 

6. PORTING

If holder of a domain name wishes to port the domain name from one ISP to another, they can do so free of charge. However, a formal letter should be submitted to NIC.

7.  DOMAIN NAMES FORMAT

7.1 A domain name consists of letters from ( a-z) and numbers (0-9)    

7.2 A domain name needs to contain a minimum of one character.

7.3 The maximum numbers used in a domain name is up to 63 alpha-numeric characters per name.

7.2 Special characters such as a hyphen (-) are not allowed as first or last character.

7.3  The first character should be a letter.

7.4 It is preferable that a domain name be similar to the full name of the organization, or part of it or the same as the trade mark and is written in Latin letters.

8. COST

8.1 JD50 for a domain name under the generic top-level domain name (.com .org .edu, .mil, .net, .gov). Annual renewal fee  is JD25.

 

8.2. JD 100 for a domain name listed directly under .jo     example ( myname.jo). Annual renewal is JD50.

 

8.3 Transfer fees cost JD50. Renewal fees JD25

84 Renewal fees are annual and commence on the beginning of January of each year.

8.5 If the holder of a domain name fails to pay renewal fees within the first (90) days of the new year, NITC may cancel the domain name allocation without further notice.   

8.6 NITC will not refund fees for any reason.  

87 Organizations with a leased line connection through NITC are offered three domain names free of charge.  

8.8 The subscription for the domain name is automatically extended into the following year unless the owner announces termination.

 8.9 Fees are subject to change.
